Are you amongst the fashion conscious? If you also happen to be amongst the budget conscious, you may want to consider renting designer clothes. For example, if you don’t have $3000 to buy a designer gown, why don’t you simply rent one for just $200? Some people may find the prospect of renting designer outfits odd, others may find it economical.
You may want to rent a dress if you’ve got a major formal event coming up. You may be going to a black tie dinner with a high-status dress. You may want to experience the ultimate prom of your wildest fashion fantasy. Whatever the reason, renting a gown may be the answer to living your dreams of a temporary luxurious wardrobe. Also during the recession, this may be a great way to experience pure luxury with less pain in one’s budget.
The disadvantages are that you’re wearing a dress that someone may have worn before. This can be gross and unhygienic to some, despite that the dress more than likely has been dry cleaned and disinfected. Of course, the condition of the dress has to be definitely wearable, but you never know until you see it yourself. Another issue may simply be having to keep tabs on yourself so you return the dress in perfect condition. After all, you don’t want to be charged an entire $3,000 if you have a tear in your dress from a wild night.
Renting designer clothes is a good business concept. However, there is a sense of ownership that someone has when purchasing their own outfit. A designer outfit may be nice and have all the status aspects covered. However, the ability to own a much affordable outfit may be more rewarding in itself. In the end, it merely depends on how much you valuable designer duds over other outfits.
